Dialogue

Image
Here is my final 2D Animation project! For this project, we needed to take a piece of existing dialogue and make any existing character speak the dialogue! I chose this Peach Goma cat and made it speak! I am not the original Peach Goma artist, so all original rights are reserved to them, this was just for the project. I also used the "I'm just a baby" sound from TikTok. I really like how this little guy turned out!  Fantastical Facts: Dialogue Edition: I tried my very best getting the mouth to move to the sounds. It was a bit tricky!  This project was probably the hardest one yet! I had a rough time trying to get everything to work together, but it all came out ok in the end. Some of it is a little wonky, but for the time frame I had, I'm happy with the results.  I had a lot of fun in this class! I may not be the greatest animator, but I still gave it my best effort and I am happy with the products I produced without ever 2D animating before!  As always, thank you fo...

Duck Walk Cycle

Image
Here is my Duck Walk Cycle! For this project, we needed to take a character and make it walk with a background. I like how this one turned out! It was a bit tricky learning how to do a walk cycle without ever animating one before. Fantastical Facts: Duck Walk Cycle Edition: This character is an original character named Ducky! I created him in class and decided to use him for this project.  I didn't know what kind of background I wanted to use until the project was almost done. I decided instead of a normal nature background, I wanted Ducky to walk somewhere unusual. That's when I came up with the idea to have him walk in outer space!  In my first version, Ducky was walking backwards. I ended up fixing it and making some minor body adjustments to make sure he walked correctly!  As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do when I create it! Have a magical day! -Maddy Wessling

Nutmeg and the Cookie

Image
Here is my weight project! For this assignment, we needed to take a full body character and have it try to hold something either too heavy or very light. There was a lot of ways to go about this project, but I ended up making this new character! It's name is Nutmeg! Not sure whether it is a cross between a bear and a hamster or just one or the other... Regardless, I still made them try to catch a very heavy cookie and fall over. Fantastical Facts: Weight Edition: Overall, I had a bit of a hard time with this project. Animation is a bit hard for me and I had a lot of critiques. I fixed them as best as I could!   I really had fun designing Nutmeg as a character! It was fun to try different positions and make it come to life!  As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do when I create it! Corgi Head Turn

Image
Here is my head turn project! Our objective was to take a character, with at least the head and shoulders showing, and make the head turn. There was no specific character we needed to use, just whatever we felt like choosing. So, I chose to draw this corgi! I really like how it turned out! I am not an Animation major, so this project was a little hard for me, and it is only one second, but for not ever animating before I am happy with how far I have come. Fantastical Facts: Corgi Head Turn Edition: Corgis are one of my favorite types of dogs! In a lot of my pieces, I will typically draw my own dogs, however I have never had a corgi. I hope to some day have a tan and white Pembroke corgi!  When I was exporting the final animation, I made a little mistake and forgot to add the color card! Sometimes we all make silly mistakes! 😅 I chose an interesting angle to make a head turn from, but it was for a reason. Corgis will typically lay in a position like this, and it is called a sploot!...

Flour Sack

Image
Here is my Flour Sack animation! This project was split into two. The first was submitting a mock sheet of the flour sack character, then we needed to animate the character. I chose to have my flour sack bouncing on a trampoline.  Fantastical Facts: Flour Sack Edition: Originally, I was going to have my flour sack become a magical girl, however, I decided that the idea might work better for a later project. I had less drawings in the first draft of the character sheet, but then added more later. I am really happy I added the jumping one, because it helped out later on. I also changed most of the flour sacks adding some critiques that my teacher gave.   As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do when I create it! Have a magical day! -Maddy Wessling

Overlapping Action

Image
Here is my next project, which dealt with overlapping action! For this assignment, we needed to have a platform and something moving behind it with appropriate actions. I like how it turned out, however, I had a rough time getting to the final product.  Fantastical Facts: Overlapping Action Edition: I originally wanted to have a Pokemon crane machine, however, I made a silly mistake and left the file at school. 😓 I was unable to retrieve it and lost a few hours of work.  I decided to use a test file that I brought home with me and edited it to make the end a Pokeball and changed some timing features. Learning from my mistakes was a big part of this process and I am happy it happened. In the future I am going to make sure to double check that I saved what I needed to save where it needs to be so I don't lose work!  As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do when I create it! Have a magical day! -Maddy W...

Bouncing Ball

Image
Here is my first ever 2D Animation project! I am really proud of how this turned out! Our goal was to create a bouncing ball hitting any objects we could think of. I used a colorful room hitting a desk and a blanket with a dachshund inside! It is not the greatest animation ever, but I am proud that I could learn how to animate this quickly.  Fantastical Facts: Bouncing Ball Edition: The dachshund in the video is a drawing of my own dog, Coco! She always burrows in blankets like in the animation and I was inspired to create this after her.  This project took a lot more time than I thought! This 5 seconds of animation took around 8 hours to create!  The walls are loosely based off of my Grandma's walls in a room in her house called the 'den'. I spent a lot of time there when I was younger, and found the cracked patterns on the walls interesting. I used my memory to recreate them in this animation.  As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope ...

Timing/Spacing Exercise

Image
Here is my first ever try at 2D Animation! This is a small exercise where I learned how to use the Toon Boom Harmony program and made some balls move within different times. Fantastical Facts: Timing/Spacing Edition: It was a bit difficult to learn the program at first, however, once I got the hang of it, I was able to create the balls and make them move no problem.  I was very happy when all of these turned out correctly because I have never animated in 2D before, so it was very exciting to have a first exercise!  As always, thank you for supporting this small artist and blog! I hope you enjoy the work as much as I do when I create it! Have a magical day! -Maddy Wessling
